Top Five Comic Adaptations of Movies!

Time for another of my top five posts. These are the top five comic adaptations of movies. Again, there are great choices out there, and they deserve their recognition too. But here's my list.

5. Conan the Barbarian

Conan follows the movie's story pretty straightforward. The one big thing that keeps it low on the list is the first issue being narrated in first person by Conan and the second issue changing to a third person narration, and using a lot less narration too. Still, a close adaptation.

4. Starship Troopers

Not only does this one feature the story from the movie, including the infamous shower scene! It also doesn't have sudden shifts in narration between issues! And the bugs are there killing just like the comic. Unfortunately, we don't get to see the brilliant acting job of Casper Van Dien in the comic or this would be higher on the list.

3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

Wow! The ninja turtles returned in a second movie, complete with comic adaptation. And instead of splitting the comic into two issues, they jammed it all into one issue! Woo! And there is nothing cooler than Super Shredder in a comic! Except maybe turtles eating pizza!

2. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

Using the great look of the cartoon, the adaptation looks like the movie, and is the movie in your hands as you read it. Once again, they went with the one issue full story rather than the multiple issues to fill the movie's story. Plus, the story itself is just good. A good comic adaptation, and a good comic.

1. Man With the Screaming Brain

Bruce Campbell wrote, directed, and starred in Man With the Screaming Brain. Then, he took the script to Dark Horse and just released the adaptation of the movie. So, we get four, yes four, issues of the tale of a man with half of his brain replaced by another man's brain since both were on the verge of death. Plus, his girlfriend gets turned into a robot with her brain in it, and more! The characters look somewhat like the actors, while still being cartoony. And the comic follows the movie while expanding on somethings Campbell couldn't afford in the movie. Awesome comic!

So, what are your favorite adaptation comics?
