Honest Laborer 8A23.2F43 is a member of the Harathi Collective, the largest civilization on Harathi Prime. All members of the collective are supposed to be absolutely equal and interchangeable, their lives governed by the Harathi Codex, a massive book of societal rules that must be memorized by the age of six.

Honest Laborer 8A23.2F43 had never shown any signs of deviation from the collective until the Guardian arrived to give him his power ring and declare him a Green Lantern. Honest Laborer 8A23.2F43 had no desire to be a Lantern but the Codex had no rules here. Mass meetings were called and it was discovered that Honest Laborer 8A23.2F43 could not pass the ring to others in the collective, it fails to respond to any but him.

Honest Laborer 8A23.2F43 has no experience making judgement calls without resorting to the collective and is greatly confused by his situation. He and the collective are hopeful for guidence from the trainer the Guardian mentioned, a trainer called Kyle Raynor from a distant collective called Earth.

((Not an artist sorry, I am figuring members of the collective look something like Heinlein's Skinnies crossed with the Blue Skinned Captain from Alien Legion.))

I've got a really challenging idea for a really wild and off-the-wall character: how about a female Green Lantern who doesn't get beaten, raped, humiliated, and/or killed?

Or is that asking too much of the writers, you think?

P.S.: I neglected to mention that while I don't have any ideas for this topic, Brett's idea is very snazzy indeed. I'd definitely read a GL story about that character!

How a bout a pointy eared GL from a planet of logicians?

No?

I didn't think so either.

How about a GL that's liek a yappy ap dog--not Gnort--just one with an enormous chip on his shoulder that without the ring would be a snack for predators.

Arrakis Chummick (sp?) may have covered this ground already, but I was thinking horrible carnivore Green Lantern, a meat-eating, fighty, socially-retarded monster. Giving him/her/it a power ring was like giving a caveman a shotgun that cooked its food to boot; and the Guardians had to look far and wide to find the one (of its people) that wouldn't use the ring to immediately eat the others. Still, he is a fearless, resourceful, and powerful Lantern: like Guy Gardner, if Guy killed and ate Sinestro after a fight. Not necessarily as gung-ho as you'd expect, it's a crafty hunter.
Visually...um, all tentacles and fangs. No eyes. Like Cthulu, only three feet tall and glowing green...
